It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out her side needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
